Schedule of Events

At The Whole Earth Store we feature live music in two venues. We have Open Mike Nites every first and third Monday from 7-9 PM. Everyone is invited for a fun evening of singing, poetry and storytelling. Bring your guitar, bongos, poems, whatever, and share your talents with us. We also like to have two or three Saturday night concerts each month featuring different area singer-songwriters, musicians, bands, whatever. In June we have added Friday night music, mostly singer songwriter stuff, as an experiment to see how it goes. To inquire about a booking call Bob at 256-775-2944. All musical events run from 7:00-9:00 PM and are family oriented and free unless noted otherwise.

July 12 Larry Woelhardt returns with his great mix of '60's and '70's folk and popular music. This is the stuff you like to sing to. He plays Peter, Paul and Mary, Gordon Lightfoot, The Kingston Trio, Johnny Cash and many more. He has a song list of hundreds of songs you can choose for him to play. He is a regular performer at The Nook in Huntsville.

July 19 Scott Miller and Roy Crawford return. We hope to do this one outside on the sidewalk if we can get permission from the city to close down the street in front of the store that night.

July 25 Karaoke. Fun, fun, fun. We have a good time singing and carrying on during our once monthly karaoke. Come and let your hair down.

August 1 Ben Farley a young Birmingham singer songwriter performs. He originally was coming with Lolly Lee one of the most original songwriters I have heard in a while, and a great performer, but she had to cancel. Ben will have some other folks with him, but I don't know who at this point.

August 9 Walker Street Opry, an acclaimed Huntsville bluegrass band will take the stage. This will be another in a series of outstanding groups that have asked to play here. These guys are good.

August 16 Bimini Road, our favorite folk rock jam band returns. They really had a great gig here last month and it you have never heard them you are missing a real treat. Check out my review in the May blog.

    August 22 Karaoke

August 23 Bruce Jones is a performer from Birmingham and play clubs and coffee houses there. He has performed here at open mike twice. He sings and plays acoustic guitar in a variety of styles, but he has a really neat '60 folk style, and like me its authentic (having been there helps). This will be a good show.

September 6 Philip David Harris returns. Philip is a singer songwriter in the the country folk tradition, is a great guitar player, and puts on a good show.

September 20 is the Second Annual North Alabama Folk Festival, a benefit for The Daystar House Homeless Shelter For Women and Children here in Cullman. It will be held in the Farmer's Market (Festhalle Market Platz). We have Microwave Dave, Liberty Junction, Act of Congress, Jerry Ryan, and Bimini Road booked to perform. It will start as soon as the Farmer's Market is over (at 1 PM or so and go until 9 Pm at least. Food will be available for purchase from Big Al's Barbeque. This will be a great show, a good time and will benefit a good cause. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the gate.
